Music Together!

I want to share with you another one of my winter music blessings. The girls and I signed up for classes with Heartside Music Together (which is a class from the national program Music Together).

When we signed up for our class, we received a packet of information including a songbook and CD for all the music we sing together in class. Here is an excerpt taken straight from the "about us" section on HMT website: "The familial environment created in our classes supports the idea that all children (and adults too!) are musical. In our classes, we sing and chant, we play instruments, and we move/dance with the children to music. Parents are guided throughout the ten week class series on how to recognize and reinforce musical behaviors at home with the goal of creating an environment for life long music making".

This musical experience has enriched our lives. The girls love to interact with the music on this level. I will find them singing with each other, mimicking the movement and dance that they learn in the classroom. They have a chance to use an array of mucical sounds. These kids really enjoy the instument time!

I recommend any parent of children 0-5years old take this class!(yes, there are a few babies who attend). The teacher, Carmen, stresses how important it is for adults to be role models when they interact in the class to encourage children to participate. I love it when my youngest watches me to see what I am doing and then mimics me! My oldest feels proud that she is also a role model for the younger children. It is a good experience for her in leadership, she is realizing the responsibilities that go along with that.

Please consider coming to the sample class coming up for the spring session of Hearside Music Together Classes! The Demo class is Saturday, March 27 at 10:30am! Check out the facebook group while your on the net: Heartside Music Together Facebook Group
